52 weeks of Mental Mastery - Week 3: Starve the Doubt, Feed the Strength
đź’¬ Quote
“Where your attention goes, your energy flows.”
— Tony Robbins
🔍 Self-Awareness Question
When pressure hits, do you focus more on what could go wrong or on what you're ready to do?
đź“– Story
After riding the bench for three seasons at Ohio State, Joe Burrow could’ve fed his frustration.
Instead, he chose to focus on growth, transferred to LSU, and locked in on the player he believed he could become.
Two years later: Heisman Trophy. National Champion. #1 Draft Pick.
He didn’t feed the doubt.
He fed the strength.
🧠Science
Your brain uses something called the Reticular Activating System (RAS) to filter information.
Whatever you consistently focus on, doubt or belief, fear or preparation, becomes your brain’s priority.
In other words:
You see more of what you focus on and you act on what you see.
👣 Step Forward
Focus Audit:
Before your next performance, ask yourself:
“What am I feeding right now, doubt or strength?”
Then shift. Choose one strength to dial in on and speak it out loud.
“I’m feeding focus.”
“I’m feeding preparation.”
“I’m feeding confidence.”
💥 What you focus on grows so feed your strengths, not your fears. When doubt creeps in, shift your attention to what you’re grateful for and what you’ve earned through preparation. That’s where your confidence lives.
